body symphony

Even the subtle, seemingly insignificant movements cause a shift in how we perceive, receive or hear sensation.

As a butterfly flaps her wings to create a storm countries away, as invisible, silent air moves through leaves to create a symphony of sound in the forest. Seemingly simple movement can change everything, causing significant shifts in our body, mind and soul.

A simple step can signify a welcome or retreat, an opening of fist; forgiveness and invitation or giving up. Unravelling to reveal or expand to possibility. A sigh; relief or exasperation, and tension as protection or boundary. When we learn to listen within, to our unique notes, we know what is meant for us and what is not. Our body speaks truths of deepest wisdom.

Regular movement interwoven with breath and presence allows us to “hear” all the notes. This self-attunement only ever invites more majesty, gratitude and grace. Listening without bias, labelling or judgement. Just allowing the body to process and digest.

We have a tendency of dissecting wholeness into parts. The vast body of water that covers our planet, “sectioned” into seas, rivers and streams. Continual pieces of land invisibly divided into countries, cities, towns.  Communities segregated by religion, colour and ritual. Whole bodies dissected into muscles, organs and bones. This process of separation is no doubt meant to simplify an overwhelming amount of information, be it depth, miles or number. Yet it also causes divide and distance.

Every single thing is connected. The universe is an orchestra made of individual instruments. A harmonious hum, where each vibration and pulse, even the seemingly insignificant and infinitesimal affects the entirety of existence.

The symphony is divided yet connected. We are alone yet together. The water in the glass seems separate from the ocean. The symphony is received in parts, yet each co-exists and depends upon each other.

Learning to attune to self, to recognise the disconnect aswell as the connect, hearing the symphony yet valuing each note and individual instrument - this is the process that allows us to avoid “dying with our music still in us”.

Learning to listen to body can change every thing.

Any thing we do is every thing we do.

A symphony of sound exists. Make it your priority to listen.
