The fluid body. The electric body where constant motion and movement happen, like ceaseless ocean tides.
According to Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, certain emotions are associated with specific areas or organs of our body. Fear is associated with liver and sadness in the lungs and so on. These are places where certain emotions arise or are harboured.
Of course everyone knows joy and love are emotions of heart. But for us, when in love, it's a whole body sensation. We feel love everywhere. It paints our perspective with light and expansion, and fills the space that surrounds us.
Love is visible. It softens the skin, makes us glow and everyone near can feel the ecstatic elevation that adoration encourages.
Our heart isn't just centred in the heart space. Nor in the pathways (meridians) of heart. To be in love is everything. And heart resonations expand and ripple through the entire body.
Anatomically, the heart gives and receives via the vascular system. An expansion and contraction. The heart beat is the pulse that links breath, body and soul. When we focus on heart, there can be sadness and grief because of the intricate connection between lungs and heart.
There's so much focus on trauma healing of late, and our personal take on it is that it's okay to not be okay. Pain and heartbreak happen for a reason. They encourage a letting go, creating space for new opportunities.
For us, heart space will always take precedence over head space. Because we feel the heart is untethered; we can't choose who we love; it's an untamed, natural energetic tether. A chosen or functional love can never satisfy the animal heart. For the mind has been conditioned from age 2 onwards (in some ways even before) with rules, societal expectations and conditioning.
But the heart is a wild creature. It' speaks the body's language, interpreting emotion and sifting through the ebbs and flow of feelings, instinct and intuition.
When we move from heart, from love, we release negativity and stay soft in our ways. Here is not a place to be tough or wear a facade. Heart can be a place of hurt, but it's very nature is to overcome and let go.
The heart never gives up. Not until the very last moment. And it doesn't close.
Sometimes in order to avoid pain, we shut away from life, or from those we are drawn toward. But those actions are of the mind. Heart wants to be near the people, places and processes that lift us. It's important to stay open to all experience and allow the heart to break, breathe, feel, to live.
Movements of heart include expansion, contraction, meditation, breath and body. So many practices focus on backbending for heart but to lean into and toward any arts that are life affirming is to stir the heart centre. So movement-wise, this could include dance, running, walking, being in nature, and being surrounded by things and people to adore.
Love is conditionless. It's boundary free. And it's a beautiful process in our realising how powerful the energy body is.
Staying open, being soft and gentle, letting go and just allowing what is, to be. This is what heart centred, full body attunement is to us.
Play light.
Stay in heart body.
