layer cakes

Keira often makes layer cakes and always says our bodies are like them.
All the layers; hidden and exposed. Intricately crafted, containing so much information, yet appearing simple. Each thought, action and emotion scatters and spills into body, pouring as energetic layers. Weighty ingredients sink deep toward base. Lighter ones stay toward surface.
So much to explore and unravel. Piece by piece.
The art of navigating each layer involves mindful movement or meditation to become attuned to presence.
When we move, every thing moves. So we practice the art of noticing subtle shifts and begin to understand the language of ourselves. Simple sensations like the temperature of skin, or the colour of a nearby plant can be pathways into the layers within.
When we dive deep into how we feel, we recognise our high and low vibrations. The moments of creativity and love, just as equally as when we feel we're sinking into infertile mud.
As with cake, it's not easy to distinguish each ingredient by one simple taste alone. We have to keep mindfully tasting each bite, each moment. Leaning in with curiosity so we can begin to guess at each component and understand the depths and roots of each layer.
And they don't always taste good. But it's all part of the process.
Sometimes it seems we've got it all worked out. We think we understand ourselves. Only for there to be another shift, a sliding door which reveals new depths, new moments of understanding and revelations.
All is perpetually shifting, in motion.
You can't understand or fully appreciate a cake by looking at it alone. You have to taste it and process all the information.
We are complex creatures. While it’s easy to live just on the surface; more concerned with how things appear, whether people will accept our decisions and whether we’re doing the right thing, that kind of life is never deeply fulfilling.
Navigating our deeper layers allows us to actively choose and manifest what, how and who we align with. We realise life doesn’t have to randomly happen to us, and we don’t have to settle for anything. Rather, by living from our truth, we create our lives abundantly.
We get out of our heads and into full body.
When we change, every thing changes. When we speak and live our truth, we encourage others to do the same.
It’s worth exploring the layers of you and spending time to know self. It’s never easy, but life will then light up.
