“Don't you know yet?
It is your light that lights the world”
Rumi
The sun radiates vast light from within, selflessly sustaining all life. Despite distance, its warmth caresses our skin, from light-years distance, even in the coldest months. We bathe in the light of this single dying star.
Our inner light is no different. It holds the capacity to touch others, inspire them, offering enlightenment and embrace.
Though, at times, our own light can be dimmed by self, by others or by circumstance. A dose of hope and self-attunement can remedy this loss of light. Just as the moon reflects the sun’s luminosity in the darkest skies – light is present even when difficult to recall.
It dissipates darkness and remains the opposite of heaviness.
When we attune to our inner light – the lightness of being – we can move through difficult times, trusting our innate light will guide us even during the darkest of moments.
I have always adored the light most. I could sit and observe the sun rise behind the ocean for an eternity. As we move into winter, it’s especially important to spend time outside, absorbing and appreciating as much light as we can.
This is the time for the most stunning of skies, as if walking through watercolours. As a microcosm of the macrocosm, appreciating the light is a sweet reminder to stay hopeful and ‘light’ in emotion.
For many, the darkness can be difficult. Moving lightly, at a pace to permit deep listen-in can help. We should allow space for the shifts from external doing to internal being to be heard.
Just as the sun, we are strong yet soft, bright yet dim, visible yet invisible all at once. Allow your movement to be all these things, so you can receive the body language and reassure yourself when you feel lost or out of balance.
Now may be a time of rest and retreat. Of allowing time for deep enquiry, reflection and understanding that we can be soft yet strong.
Now be a time of realising what truly serves and fulfils us. And choosing to walk away/let go of anything that threatens to dim our light.
As we move toward the end of the year, now is a good time to ensure that we walk into the next year with our light intact.
To fill our cup.
Stay bright. Stay awake.
